Out with the old
“My father clearing out our family's dusty possessions from an old shed on my great uncle's property. His passing brought us out there. Along with the weighty decision of selling the farm that's been in my family's history for a long time came the need to clear out the toys, sofas, photographs and documents we'd stored there over the years.
We rummaged through our things and decided on what we would throw away and what we would keep from my sister and I's childhood, and from my parent's marriage. Reliving the material history of our lives thus far, it felt difficult not to view these roots as belonging to a different reality when things have changed so much in the interim.
The biting cold of the northern Swedish weather made the process shorter than what our collective nostalgia undertaking otherwise would've enjoyed.”
